Summary
The rapid advance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) combined with the increasing availability of digitised and born-digital media sources has greatly stimulated data-driven research with media content in social sciences and humanities (SSH). It has already resulted in the creation of a wide variety of applications such as natural language processing techniques for archival documents or image retrieval tools for audiovisual collections.
This white paper aims to harmonise requirements articulated by SSH researchers for AI-based tooling. We specifically focus on the needs of researchers in and around the Media Studies discipline.
