4th AI Community Workshop & AIDA Symposium 2024 – Thessaloniki

The European Networks of Excellence in AI and Robotics (AI NoEs) will organise their 4th Community Workshop on June 26, 2024, followed by the AIDA Symposium on June 27, 2024. Both events will be held in Thessaloniki, Greece, kindly hosted by the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), the coordinator of AI4Media. 

This two-day gathering is designed to enhance collaboration among the AI NoEs community members and other stakeholders. It offers an excellent platform to discuss current AI trends, tackle challenges, and share innovative ideas.

Participants will have a unique opportunity to:

On the first day, the 4th AI Community Workshop will cover a range of significant topics concerning AI research and innovation, designed to foster dialogue and collaboration among experts and stakeholders in the AI field, including:

  • A keynote speech by Lucilla Sioli from EC DG CONNECT, focusing on the future of AI research and innovation.
  • A session highlighting the achievements of existing Networks of Excellence (NoEs) and introducing new ones (dAIEDGE, ELIAS, ENFIELD) with representatives from each network discussing their projects.
  • Several parallel workshops addressing diverse aspects of AI:
    1. Evaluating and auditing AI systems versus designing them to be safe and secure.
    2. Navigating interdisciplinary challenges within AI research.
    3. Exploring the potential and challenges of Generative AI in #EuroGen.
    4. Discussing the creation of a virtual research lab for next-generation infrastructure federation focused on edge AI.
    5. Assessing and enhancing fairness in AI systems.
    6. Collaborative actions among NoEs for joint strategic research agendas and ecosystem mapping.
  • A Worldcafé session dedicated to discussing the sustainability of the NoE community.

On the second day, the AIDA Symposium promises to be an excellent opportunity for knowledge sharing among AI researchers and practitioners, featuring an array of panels on the following topics:

  • AI University Education
  • Training AI Expertise for Europe: Initiatives and the EU AI PhD Curriculum
  • EBU Academy School of AI: How EBU Academy is upskilling Europe’s Public Service Media on AI
  • AIDA and AoD platform and experience
  • Innovation for Education: How AI can revamp long-life learning
  • AI in journalism and misinformation: Overview, audiovisual applications, and media literacy needs
  • AI tools in education (impact of LLMs and Generative AI in education, exams, essays).
