Public Service Media (PSM) is undergoing a major transformation as it moves from a traditional business to the modern digital age. AI-based technologies can support the mission of PSMs in this transition by providing capabilities to simplify and accelerate content production processes and to enhance existing content, such as broadcasters' archives. This talk will present the use case Rai, the Italian public service broadcaster, is developing as part of the AI4Media project, which extends the use of AI technology across many of the core functionalities of typical media production workflows.

Maurizio Montagnuolo is a Senior Research Engineer working at the R&D Department of the Italian public broadcaster Rai. He graduated in Telecommunications Engineering and holds a Ph.D. in “Business and Management”. His interests are mostly addressed in the context of multimedia data mining and artificial intelligence, fields in which he counts several publications in international journals and conferences. He has been working on several EC funded projects in digital archiving, automated metadata extraction and cloud technologies.
